Iraq War Madness

Good morning Alaska and the rest of you who aren't privleged enough to live here. The Patraeus report came out and our congressional delegation has weighed in. Ted Stevens said he supports whatever is in it, even though he hasn't looked at it or has been in on committee hearings. But whatever, thats his own private Idaho to deal with. Lisa Murkowski says she’s troubled by the Patreus report on the Iraq War. She fears that with no political progress from the Iraqi government, we cannot successfully carry out our military mission. No “S” Sherlock. She was troubled months ago on this very show, yet she keeps voting to do whatever the president wants, no questions asked. Now she’s troubled. There will NEVER be a political solution in Iraq other than by the sword which is the only thing they understand, and that’s for THEM to decide NOT us!!! Don Young is another special piece of work. He supports General Patreus and that’s fine because he’s right about the military aspects of the war. Where Young fails is politically. He’s not General Don Young, he’s congressman Young. He says “A democracy cannot be created overnight. Ours wasn’t and neither will theirs”. One big difference among many – WE decided to fight for our democracy, we didn’t have it shoved down our throats! The Iraqi people didn’t decide to do anything for themselves, WE decided to – now they’re fighting each other for three different forms of government and NONE of them are a democracy!!! With no political solutions, we'll be there forever with some phantom excuses as to why we should "stay the course". When questioned whether he thinks the war in Iraq is making Americans safer over here, Patraeus cast doubt on President Bush's bedrock argument that the war in Iraq is helping to protect the nation against another terror attack. The general stunned a packed Senate hearing room when he answered, "Sir, I don't know, actually." Nice, if the guy running the war doesn't know if we're safer, what makes you think Bush does???

Another Terror Attack?
Here's my little opinion on this, if we're so terrified of a terrorist threat that may or MAY NOT come to this country after we're "done" over there, I see no reason why we shouldn't just pull out of there now, save a couple more hundred thousand lives of our boys and girls fighting over there in Iraq, and if they DO attack, just bomb them back into the cro-magnon stage. Let 'em try and terrorize us with that little stick with a piece of obsidion on it that those guys used back in the neolithic era. From a political standpoint, there is no winning this, we've already lost virtually all credibility, in my mind, simply by staying there this long. Yet the government (or the military take your pick) somehow feel that it is important to do what George SR. said about the gulf war. I believe he said it as such "This will not be another vietnam. This time we're going all the way!" Perhaps if we had a president that wasn't trying to measure up to dear old dad, and go play in the sand some more like his daddy did, we might just have not gone over there altogether. I dunno. I'll just keep supportin' the troops the only way I know how, finding them jobs when they get back, and showing them love when they're in the sh*t. thank you GO ACES! MARKS HEAD IS SHINY IN THE SUNLIGHT! Later.
