DID YA SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN ANCHORAGE RECENTLY? I'M TALKING ABOUT THE SPECIAL SESSION CALLED BY GOVERNOR PALIN. NOW, LET'S REVIEW.IT TOOK 90 DAYS IN JUNEAU FOR OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS TO GET EXACTLY NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED WHEN IT CAME TO THE SENIOR BONUS. NOT A DAMN THING. 90 DAYS...IN JUNEAU...AND NOTHING. SO GOVERNOR PALIN MAKES THEM COME BACK TO WORK IN ANCHORAGE. AND WHAT THE HELL DO YA KNOW.
THEY COME UP WITH A PLAN...FINISH THE JOB ON SENIOR CARE....
TOTAL TIME SPENT.
ONE DAY.
NOT EVEN ONE DAY.
A FEW HOURS. AND IT'S DONE.
WHY IS THAT?
HMMM...COULD IT BE BECAUSE SOME ALASKAN SENIORS WERE ABLE TO ACTUALLY SHOW UP DOWNTOWN,AND MAKE THEMSELVES SEEN AND HEARD? COULD IT BE BECAUSE IT WAS A GORGEOUS DAY, AND HOUSE AND SENATE MEMBERS ARE JUST LIKE US, AND WOULD RATHER BE OUTSIDE PLAYING IN THE SUN, THEN WORKING INSIDE, OUT OF IT?
NOW, I DON;T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I LIKE THE FACT THAT MY REPRESENTATIVE WAS HERE IN THE LARGEST CITY IN ALASKA.
I LIKE THE FACT THAT THE PEOPLE IMPACTED BY THIER DECISIONS GOT TO MAKE SIGNS AND SHOW UP, AND LET THE LEGISLATIVE BODY KNOW EXACTLY HOW THEY FELT.
I LIKE THE FACT THAT REPS FROM JUNEAU ARE NERVOUS THAT WORK GOT DONE EFFICIANTLY, AND CHEAPER THAN IF THIS SESSION WERE HELD IN THE CAPITOL. IT SHOULD MAKE THEM NERVOUS..BECAUSE IT MAKES SENSE TO HAVE THE LEGISLATIVE SESSIONS HELD IN ANCHORAGE.
AND HERE'S ANOTHER THOUGHT.
DO YOU THINK IF IT WERE THE MIDDLE OF WINTER THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN IN SUCH A HURRY TO GET ANYTHING DONE? BETTER YET. THE MIDDLE OF WINTER IN JUNEAU?
HELL NO.
THEY HAVEN'T THE MOTIVATION TO ROLL UP THEIR SLEEVES AND BUST OUT A FINISHED PRODUCT WHEN IT'S 2 DEGREES AND BLOWING IN THE DEAD OF WINTER IN JUNEAU. SO WHY DON'T WE, NOT ONLY MOVE THE SESSIONS TO ANCHORAGE, BUT START THEM IN MARCH?
AS IT SITS NOW, THEY START THE DAMN THINGS IN JANUARY, AND THEN THEY SIT ON THIER THUMBS UNTIL APRIL. NO WONDER THEY DON;T GET ANYTHING DONE.
IT'S FREAKING COLD.
START THE SESSIONS IN MARCH, SO THEY HAVE TO GET THEIR WORK DONE..OR THEY CAN STAY AT WORK UNTIL THE END OF JULY.
YOU THINK THEY MIGHT GET OFF THIER COLLECTIVE ASSES WHEN THE KINGS ARE IN?
SO THERE YOU GO ALASKA...I HATE TO BEAT A HORSE..BUT THAT HORSE IS NOT DEAD..IT'S ALIVE AND KICKING.
MOVE THE LEGISLATIVE SESSIONS TO ANCHORAGE AND MAKE THEM WORK, RIGHT UP TO THE FIRST RUN OF SUMMER KINGS. I BELEIVE THAT'S THE BEST WAY TO ACTUALLY SEE THEM GETTING THINGS DONE, INSTEAD OF HOPING THEY AREN'T JUST STAYING WARM IN JUNEAU.
